Last night hundreds of youth queued and were ready to hear their successful peers’ narratives about how they did it and how they can do it too! The air at Kovsie Kerk was electric with the anticipation of hundreds of youth who were eager for the Talks4Success, which was hosted by 5fm DJ, Tumi Voster, to kick off.
Talks4success is a series of inspirational talks hosted by Nedbank across South Africa, aimed at inspiring young adults from all walks of life to create a meaningful reality for themselves and to become the change they want to see. The talks continue to grow. This is the third year they are running and they’ve managed to reach over 8 million young South Africans through working with young people who built their craft and careers through sheer passion and hard work.
Among the speakers (or ignitors as they were referred to) was publishing maverick, Tokologo Phetlha, serial social entrepreneur, Doug Hoernle, as well as South Africa’s telly screen darling, Nomzamo Mbatha. The trio went on to speak about the challenges they had encountered at varsity and how they used their drive to overcome and reach success.
Desmond Osman, Head of Entry Level Banking and Youth Marketing at Nedbank said “We are delighted to partner with the University of The Free State to host the 2016 Talks4Sucess… This is all in the spirit of making the things that really matter with young people and society alike, happen.” – Pulane Choane
