Suspects in Baatjie murder case to appear in court next year

The re-application for bail of the six suspects who were allegedly involved in the murder of the late DA councillor, Johannes Baaitjie, and his business partner, Shuping Nouse, has been denied in the Daniëlskuil Magistrate’s Court.

Northern Cape Hawks spokesperson, Philani Nkwalase, says the six will be back in court on January 23. Baaitjie and Nouse were allegedly lured into a business deal and shot along the main road between Postmasburg and Daniëlskuil in August, after the DA had won the local election in the area.

Baaitjie died on the scene, while Nouse died in a Kimberley hospital a week later. It is believed that the murders were politically motivated.
