Lectures on the North West University’s (NWU) Vaal Triangle Campus in Vanderbijlpark resumed this morning, without any disruptions by protestors. This comes after academic and administration services were suspended on Tuesday and yesterday after disruptive action escalated. Property was damaged and staff and students were intimidated.
NWU spokesperson, Louis Jacobs, says all measures are in place to ensure that no further disruptions occur. Strict entrance control measures are in place.
The situation on the NWU’s Mafikeng Campus is also normal after a fire broke out in an office space in a building last night. According to Jacobs the incident is not related to the #FeesMustFall protest. Last night’s fire caused minimal damage. – Christal-Lize Muller
