Security at UFS to be tightened following student stabbing

Lacea Loader, spokesperson for the University of the Free State, has said that plans to tighten security at the university are underway following the stabbing of a female student on campus.

Loader says that the ongoing exams, which will end on Wednesday this week, are also a motivating reason why security will be tightened.

She adds that these security same measures will be taken when the school reopens doors for its 2017 students.

The unnamed 28-year-old female victim was stabbed around 05:00 in shower rooms at Marula Senior Residence in Bloemfontein. She has reportedly sustained injuries to her back. She is said to be in a stable condition Bloemfontein.

Marope confirmed earlier on that no arrests have been made and police are working with campus security and campus officials to find the culprit.
