A Bloemfontein man who was arrested in connection with the murder of a retired Transnet train driver is expected to appear in front of the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The 23-year-old man was arrested by members of the police flying squad and crime intelligence on Friday at Phase 5 in Turflaagte, Mangaung.
The arrest follows the murder of a 73-year-old Hendrik Knoetze. Knoetze’s neighbour discovered his body at his home in Pellissier earlier this week after Knoetze was not seen for some days.
He was found in a sitting position against his fridge in his kitchen, with his hands and feet tied together with rope.
Free State Police Spokesperson, Chaka Marope, said the suspect has been charged with murder, after being brought in for questioning. It is alleged that the suspect was known by Knoetze.
