Up to ten areas of the Mangaung Metro are set to be without water for the next day and a half as Bloem Water is fixing a burst pipe.
Areas including Pellissier, Fichardt Park, Hospital Park, Uitsig, Kwaggafontein, Lourier Park, Wilgehof and Ferreira as well as certain parts of Rocklands are currently affected.
According to Democratic Alliance Ward Councillor, Rossouw Botes, a second pipe burst at the Brandkop reservoir after a maintenance work was conducted yesterday.
Botes says the Brandkop reservoir is subsequently running low and water is currently being pumped from the Maselspoort Treatment Works.
“We hope that can help a little in getting water back into the reservoir. According to the people who are working on this project, it seems to as if we’re in for more or less 36 hours before this problem can be solved,” he says.
Mangaung Municipality spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, says they will monitor the situation and inform the community about the developments of the situation as they are trying to get things fixed.
“We want to let our people know that we are putting our engineers under pressure. We want to apologise for the inconvenience this might cause, especially during the weekend when people are at home,” Khedama says.
