Debating St Michael's debators are going from strength to strength. The senior team won the provincial round of the SACEE Debating League and will now go through to the national competition in December. Two of the junior debaters have been individually selected to participate at the national competition. From the left are Jessica Chuang, Rachel Sweetlove and Emily Chikobvu (junior debators) and Gugulethu Sihlali, Tholoana Mosia and Lerato Nthathakane (senior debators).
Consumer Studies  Megan Klopper participated in the NTCE Consumer Studies Grade 11 Competition hosted by the Department of Tourism. The task was to develop an eco-friendly production area for an eco-friendly product. On the 30th of September 2016, she had to display her area and product. After the Tourism Expo, she  was invited to a gala event at Emoya Estate and Spa, where she met the Deputy Minister and the MEC.  Megan was  announced as the national winner, winning a Samsung Table E and a Taurus Food Processor for the school.

Science Expo Rachel Sweetlove was awarded a silver medal at this year's Eskom Expo for young scientists. She qualified for the nationals that took place in October, where she did even better and came away with a gold medal. Her project aimed to develop a concrete that is light in mass, fire resistant, water resistant, insulative, and strong enough to use in place of standard concrete. She was able to demonstrate that vermiculite concrete is much lighter, shows no difference in fire resistance, is more water resistant and a much better insulator than standard concrete.

Dancing The St Michael's girl, Lalique Titus, is dancing her way to the top. This amazing and talented young lady is a Free State and South African team representative in dancing. She is the winner of Talent Africa (Gold) and was awarded 3 Golds at the Cheetah Challenge, 2016. Lalique qualified for the South African team that will be representing South Africa in the Czech Republic at the World Championship in 2017.
