Newly elected councillors of Mangaung Metro to meet

Newly elected councillors of the Mangaung Metro will gather for their first council meeting on Thursday, 18 August 2016.

The meeting will be in the Bloemfontein City Hall and will start at 10 in the morning.

Free State Judge President, Mahube Molemela, will preside over the meeting.

The African National Congress (ANC) has the majority in the council with 58 seats followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) with 27 seats.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has 9 seats followed by the Freedom Front Plus (VF+) and the African Independent Congress (AIC) with two seats each.

Congress of the People (COPE) and the Agency for New Agenda (ANA) have one seat each.

Sixteen parties, including independent candidates, contested for seats on the Mangaung Metro council during the recent 2016 Municipal Elections.
