Police in the Free State are investigating a case of hijacking after an employee of a company in Bloemfontein was robbed of his motorbike after delivering medication in the city. Police spokesperson, Wendy Nkabi, says the 43-year-old employee yesterday returned to his company motorbike at about 13:30 after delivering medicine at a house in the vicinity of General De Wet Avenue.
According to her, he started his bike and applied all safety measures with his helmet on when two unknown men approached him.
She says before the employee could drive off he was pushed off the bike. He fell down after which the suspects kicked and assaulted him. The suspects drove off with the motorbike, valued at about nine thousand rand. No arrests have been made yet.
Nkabi appeals to anyone with information to call the Parkweg Police Station on 051-507-6003 or call 0860-10111. Members of the public who spot the stolen motorbike with registration number, FSP 426 FS, should also call the police. – Christal-Lize Muller
