Mlamleli assures provision of services

The newly elected Executive Mayor of the Mangaung Metro Municipality, Olly Mlamleli, has elected nine members of the Mayoral Committee. These are officials liable for ensuring service delivery to the residents of Mangaung. Speaking at the introduction of the newly elected members, Mlamleli said one portfolio remains vacant. “The Mayoral Committee Member to fill the portfolio of Economic Development has not yet been appointed. This is because the filling of this portfolio requires greater consideration, and I need to be sure of the person to fill this position,” explained Mlamleli.
Councillor Lebohang Masoetsa, the Deputy Executive Mayor, will be in charge of Infrastructure and Public Works, while the portfolio of Finance and Performance Management will be filled by Councillor Lulama Titi-Odili, SMME and Rural Development by Councillor Nthabiseng Jonas, Spatial Planning and Land Use Management by Councillor Mafa Mkgabu, Community and Social Services by Councillor Mpolokeng Mahase, Transport and Public Safety by Councillor Patrick Monyakoane, Human Settlements by Councillor Molefi Morake, Corporate Services by Councillor Ntenne Ratsiu, and lastly the portfolio of the Environmental Management, Parks and Solid Waste by Councillor Xolo Pongolo.
Mlamleli says the elected members are fully aware of what is expected of them. She says the principle of “Batho Pele” will take precedence in the manner in which they executed their duties. Mlamleli assures the public that the nine elected members will be held accountable to curb challenges of electricity theft, potholes, sewerage systems, and leakages, among other challenges faced by people in the Mangaung Metro.
The newly elected Executive Mayor further extended her assurance to residents of incorporated municipalities. “We are also committed to deliver quality services to the people in local municipalities that are incorporated into the jurisdiction of the Mangaung Metro Municipality. These are the people who will be expecting this municipality to improve their lives, and we can assure them that we will not bring them down.”  – Katleho Morapela
