Dineo Kaylin Visser, who has recently been crowned the new Miss Mangaung Metro for 2017 at a spectacular event held in the City of Roses, wants to bring change to the city.
Born and bred in Christiana, she moved to the City of Roses to study B.Com. Investment Banking at the University of the Free State. She decided to enter the Miss Mangaung Metro competition because she wants to see change in the city, wants be an ambassador for Mangaung, and represent the young people of the city.
Visser admits that she has been facing a few challenges during the course of the competition. “It was difficult raising funds for the Katleho Home for cancer patients, but I managed,” she says. Before she was crowned, she visited the Universitas Hospital to hand out fruit to patients in the long queues. She mentions that she would like to continue with that
“Many stores provided me with fruit in order to complete my duties,” she adds.
“I just want to give a special thanks to Chief Leeuw of the Chief Leeuw Foundation, who is the organiser of the competition and who has made it possible.” She ends off with her favourite quote by Maya Angelou: “No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life goes on and it will be better tomorrow”.
