The national chairperson of the South African Local Government Association (Salga), Thabo Manyoni, is set to address delegates at the 16th Biennial conference of the Association of Public Accounts, that started off in Bloemfontein today. Manyoni is soon expected to vacate this position as he was replaced as the Executive Mayor of the Mangaung Metro by former Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC, Olly Mlamleli. Manyoni was, however, quick to deny rumours that he might take up Malmaleli’s place in the provincial executive committee. All indications are that Free State Premier, Ace Magashule, is planning to reshuffle his cabinet, but an announcement has not been made. Manyoni, who is also the deputy-chairperson of the ANC in the province, says a decision is still to be announced “I am here as Salga and I represent local government. There is no indication that I will be the MEC for Cogta in the Free State and I think those who are supposed to decide are still applying their mind and may later indicate where I should be placed,” said Manyoni – Cathy Dlodlo
