Manhunt launched for murder suspects

North West police’s search continues for five suspects, who were allegedly involved in the house robbery and murder of a well-known interpreter from the North West University.

Maria Arangies was shot dead at her house in Mooivallei Park, on Wednesday night.

According to the police spokesperson, Kelebogile Moleko, suspects fled the scene with jewellery, a television set, a computer and other valuables. Moleko said the interpreters’ housemate, Lieske Burger, was also assaulted and sustained head injuries.

“The police were called about a house robbery and went to investigate.  It is alleged that about five suspects entered the house and shot her, the women died while entering the house. They then went inside the house and assaulted another women.”

Moleko says no arrests have been made yet and stolen items have also not been recovered.

Meanwhile, Burger, is in a stable condition and expected to be discharged this weekend.
