A man was critically injured after an apparent hit-and-run on the Viljoenskroon road, outside Potchefstroom on Saturday.
According to ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, the man, believed to be in his late 20s, was discovered by a member of the community, who then called emergency services.
“Upon our arrival found the man lying on the side of the road next to his bicycle. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition. We began our treatment of the patient and provided numerous advanced life support interventions. Once the patient was treated he was transported to Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital for urgent treatment,” he said.
“The driver of the vehicle in question was not found on the scene.” Meiring added.
He said local authorities were on the scene to investigate further.
