Luckhoff farm attack suspects apprehended

A 21 year old Lesotho national was caught on the R30 road in Allanridge with over 19 bags of dagga, estimated to be worth over R300 000.

The two Luckhoff farm attack suspects aged 35 and 41 were arrested in Kimberley in the Northern Cape on Saturday evening.

They were both found by the police at a house in Rodepan, Kimberley, while in possession of some of the stolen property that was robbed from one of the farms in Luckhoff last week.

This comes after the two suspects are alleged to have attacked and robbed an elderly couple at their farm house last Thursday.

Rudolf (79) and Aletta van Heerden (75) were assaulted and tied up by the two men.

The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money they took from a safe, a riffle, jewelry and other valuable items before fleeing the scene with the victim’s vehicle.

Free State Police Commissioner, Lebeoana Tsumane, commended swift action taken by the police in arresting the suspects.

“The arrest of these two suspects within such a short period of time shows that if we work together as one, nothing or no one will come and do as he wishes and be left to enjoy the fruits of crime,” he said.

“This should serve as a clear warning that we will not tolerate any kind of crime, particularly against our senior citizens” he added.
