The Lemo Mall Schools Soccer Tournament finals, which was played at the Mangaung Sport Centre on Friday 8 September 2017, ended on a high note for HTS Louis Botha, who beat Navalsig High to be crowned winners of the Lemo Cup.
Supporters from all over joined and showed their support for the young football stars. Free State MEC for Education, Tate Makgoe, was among the spectators.
“I am very excited about today. There is no need for South Africa to lose against small countries if the national coaches can only come and identify talent in rural areas and small provinces like the Free State, particularly in Bloemfontein,” said Makgoe.
According to football coach at HTS Louis Botha, Mncedisi Ngomba, it is the first time in ten years since he joined HTS that the team has played against Navalsig. Coach Ngomba said he is very proud of the youngsters for winning the Lemo Cup tournament against Navalsig with the impressive score of 2-0.
“We set a goal for five tournaments, with three tournaments that have already passed, we have won one so far and are left with two tournaments which the young football stars hope to win.”
Ngomba described the team as a great team with a vision.
The young football stars, who played their hearts out for the love of the game, received a prize of R20 000.
