Kroonstad court sentences former Public Prosecutor and Interpreter

The Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court has sentenced Former Public Prosecutor, Monde Mbaduli, and an Interpreter, Sobi Tlali, after they were found guilty of corruption on Friday.

Both Mbaduli, 41, and Tlali, 53, were employed by the very court in which they were sentenced.

The duo allegedly approached Thulani Maseko, who was facing charges of common assault in 2008. They demanded a R2500 bribe for his case to be withdrawn from the roll.

Maseko alerted the police and the duo were subsequently arrested in the act of receiving bribe money. They were sentenced to six years imprisonment each, with two years suspended for five years.
