HTS wins high school soccer tournament

The WorldVentures Foundation, non-profit arm to WorldVentures, one of the world’s largest curators of group travel, partnered with KZN-based Kloof High School to host their annual School Soccer Tournament Boys U19. It was the 16th year that this tournament, which was held from 23-26 June 2016, took place.
A total of forty-eight teams from schools across South Africa participated. Each athlete received a WorldVentures Foundation branded kit bag.
The tournament is endorsed by SAFA and was attended by SAFA Development Agency CEO, Dr Robin Petersen. “Tournaments like Kloof High School’s Soccer Tournament for boys under 19 are incredibly important for the development of young athletes and the sport itself. These tournaments will not continue to flourish and grow without the support of corporates. We are incredibly excited to join forces with WorldVentures Foundation, a non-profit arm to the world’s largest curator of group travel, WorldVentures,” said Petersen.
The defending champions, HTS Louis Botha from Bloemfontein, managed to hold onto the title when they beat Pinetown High School 3-1 in a game that can only be described as passionate, vigorous, high energy and incredibly entertaining for the supporters who filled the pavilions of Kloof High School (KHS). The boys from KHS did very well taking fourth position in the tournament.
The main prize of R20 000 for this event was awarded to HTS Louis Botha. In addition to this cash prize, the event served as a scouting platform for professional teams looking for players. “The players know what’s at stake,” said Anil Dukhi, Deputy Principal of Kloof High School and Soccer Tournament Director. “But the objective, aside from the development of the sport, is to instil a sense of passion in these players and remind them that this is indeed a beautiful game.”
