Economic Development Deputy Minister, Madala Masuku, is hosting a business session with Free State youth entrepreneurs in Botshabelo today. Masaku’s session with the youth in Mangaung Metro Municipality follows the National Council of Provinces (NCOP)’s visit to the area a few months ago, where the youth in the area expressed their outcry relating to poverty and the lack of employment opportunities. According to the president of the South African Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Free State, Tshidiso Thinane, promoting entrepreneurship in a province with the highest unemployment rate is the way to go.
Thinane says that the interactive session is to ensure youth economic participation, and to allow local business people to talk about their challenges.
He says the session will look at means to help local business people and to empower them with information on how to run successful businesses. This includes looking at ways to access markets, funding, and mentorship among others.
