FS police move Parys lions to a shelter

Free State police have mover the lions that resided at the Otavi Game Lodge outside Parys, to a shelter.

This comes after a 12-year-old boy was mauled to death by lions at the game lodge on Thursday.

It is alleged that Nkananelo Latha was accompanying one of the farm workers to the lion camp.

The farm worker managed to escape without injuries. Nkananelo, however, succumbed to his injuries.

Police spokesperson Luvhuhani Hani couldn’t confirm the total number of the lions that have been moved.

“The latest information is that, with the assistance of our legal services, stock theft and the nature conservation, all the lions at the Otavi Game Lodge were removed on Friday, to a shelter in Koppie, that is in the Free State. Investigations are still continuing, to see if we can add more charges on the capable homicide charges that we have already opened.”

Hani says no arrest has been made yet.
