All the municipalities in the Free State that owed Eskom are now officially off the hook. This is according to Eskom spokesperson Khulu
This is according to Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe and follows after the Ngwathe and Phumelela municipalities met their respective deadlines today to provide payment plans to the power supplier.
In the Norther Cape, Renosterberg started making payments yesterday, resulting in Ubuntu being the only municipality left in central South Africa that is still in arrears.
Phasiwe says the municipality has until noon today to make its payment or provide a pay-back plan.
“We will just continue monitoring their account. If the money does appear, it means that they will be off the list themselves. If the money is not there it means they face the risk of having power interruptions from 17:00 today,” Phasiwe added.
