The Free State Mothers in Business luncheon is being held to honour elderly women who have made an impact on the running of businesses in and around Bloemfontein. These women are not only business women but also mothers and wives. Founder, Matumo Molosioa, says the women being honoured are often the wives of well-known businessmen in the community who have contributed to society, whether it be through their family businesses or through contributing towards improving their communities.
Previous honourees include the late Mamorwesi Molemela, Dolly Kenny, Palesa Rantsoareng and others who have impacted the Mangaung community in one way or the other through their businesses. The women previously honoured also inspired young women in their communities to become successful in their endeavours through providing them with mentorship and support.
Molosioa says this year they have branched out to identify women from surrounding towns, including Botshabelo and Welkom. Various guest speakers have also been invited to share their business expertise. The luncheon is also an opportunity for young and older businesswomen to get together and brainstorm on how they can improve their business endeavours. The women will be honoured at a luncheon held at Ilanga Estate in Bloemfontein on 17 September 2016. – Seithati Semenokane
