FS government warns of alleged threats of violence against learners at schools


Acting Free State Premier, Sam Mashinini, has noted messages circulating on social media threatening that a group of gangsters is allegedly planning to instigate attacks on learners and members of the community in some areas of the province.

Mashinini, on behalf of the Free State provincial government, is opposed to any form of violence, intimidation or instigation of criminal activities.

The Free State government condemns any attempt to intimate the learners and members of the community, as well as any attempt to disrupt our schools. The Free State government shall ensure that any act of violence or criminality is met with the full might of the law and will not allow any attempt to disrupt the proper running of our schools.

Mashinini calls for calm and wants all learners, educators, parents and members of the community to rest assured that all our law enforcement agencies are on high alert and will make sure that schooling takes place as scheduled in all our schools.
