Election campaigns heat up

The DA and the ANC in the Free State seem to be at each other’s throats while campaigning for the upcoming local elections is heating up. The DA said it has opened a criminal case against the ANC in the province and registered a complaint with the IEC because ANC supporters were allegedly disrupting their election campaign in Thaba Nchu today.

But ANC provincial spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, says it was the other way around. He said he understood from ground structures that the DA interfered with the ANC’s campaign in Thaba Nchu. DA provincial leader, Patricia Kopane, says what the ANC has done is against the Electoral Code of conduct. Meeko says he will consult with the ANC supporters in Thaba Nchu and give a detailed report on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the IEC spokesperson in the Free State, Mmathabo Rasengane, confirmed a charges was laid and that more details will be revealed today – Cathy Dlodlo
