Unemployment and the lack of service delivery are on the rise in the Managaung Metro Municipality. This is according to Pappie Mokoena,  former Mangaung Metro mayor and now candidate for a newly established party – Agency for New Agenda. The party – that is contesting for the first time in the 2016 Municipal Elections, and are contesting only in the Mangaung municipal area. Mokoena said in an interview with OFM News that the lack of services and unemployment is caused by lack of governmental partnership with privately owned businesses.  He says if the municipality work together with registered Small Medium and Macro Enterprises (SMME) it will in return facilitate economic growth in the Free State. Mokoena, says local governments should also invest in local businesses to create employment opportunities. “ At the present moment there is a problem concerning service delivery and business growth in the city. There is a high need for the municipality to mobilise all sectors and to create economic prospects in the province” said Mokoena. He says there is a high need for employment opportunities in the province, and access to basic needs.
