Delegates attending the 16th Biennial Association of Public Accounts Committees (APAC) Conference observed a moment of silence in memory of music legend, Mandoza, who passed away on Sunday.
Mandoza passed away after a long battle with cancer which had reportedly spread to his brain.
The conference with the theme “Consolidating the gains of oversight: A look into the past 22 years, officially started today.
More than 400 delegates from all over Africa, members of portfolio committees of Public Accounts from all nine provinces and the national assembly are attending the conference until 22 September.
Delegates hope to share best practices in promoting accountability and transparent governance.
Public Accounts Committees are legislatures’ and Parliaments’ watchdog over the spending of taxpayers’ money by the executives.
Speakers at the conference includes former Mangaung Metro Executive Mayor, Thabo Manyoni and Free State Legislature Speaker Mamiki Qabathe.
