Bloemfontein Celtic will face Maritzburg United on 23 August in their opening match of the 2016/17 Premier Soccer League season.
Ironically this match will also serve as the former Celtic captain, Bevan Fransman’s debut for his new team, Maritzburg.
The team from the City of Roses confirmed that they will be playing at home this weekend in a three-team tournament.
Phunya Sele Sele will face Umtata Bush Bucks from the Eastern Cape and Royal Eagles from KwaZulu-Natal tomorrow at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium.
The clubs Chief Operating Officer, Chabelo Motsamai, thanked both Bush Bucks and Eagles over coming though to Bloemfontein to compete against Celtic.
“Firstly, we must commend both Bucks and Eagles for their generosity by agreeing to come and play matches that will benefit all the three team.
“Everyone is busy preparing for the new season and in the past week we participated in the Uthungulu Mayoral Cup tournament.
“There is a need to continue playing constantly, to make sure that the team gets ready and the new ones can understand and fit into the coach’s system.”
Celtic will kick-off proceedings against Bush Bucks at 9:30 on Saturday morning and then take on Eagles at 14:30 in the afternoon.
Celtic running with the theme of “Come and see your players for Mahala” and this is exactly what it means.
