Botshabelo mother sentenced for the death of her 3 children

A 33-year-old mother, Puleng Paulinah Gwadi was sentenced to 18 years of which 6 years were suspended to 5 years by Botshabelo magistrate court. She was arrested on 12 July 2015 and charged with culpable homicide.

The sentence follows the incident that happened on 26 November 2010 where an inquest case was initially investigated. It was later revealed that Puleng left her three kids aged 10 months, 4 and 8 years old inside her shack at V-Section in Botshabelo and went to the night vigil at the nearby street. She only came back the next morning and found that her shack had burned down. After long investigation it was discovered that Puleng separated with her husband the same year and she had told her friends she was going to get revenge.

The case was investigated at Boithuso SAPS by Detective Constable Lefa Letlojane who left no stone unturned to ensure that justice is served for the two girls and the boy after the mother left a burning candle in the shack knowing the results of her intentions.
