Bloemfontein Manager Suspended Over Racist Remarks


A senior staff member of a fresh produce market in Bloemfontein has been suspended from his work duties due to an alleged racist rant he had with a customer last week Thursday at the store.

According to Cliff Lomberg, Regional Manager of the store, the accused staff member will appear for a disciplinary hearing with his superiors and human resources tomorrow at an undisclosed venue in Bloemfontein.

In a video taken by the customer, where the two have a foul exchange of words, the customer, known as Bongani Malik Ndlovu, alleges that the accused member of staff threw his smoothie drink onto the ground after a situation between the two quickly escalated.

With regards to Ndlovu’s comments, Lomberg went on to defend the accused employee by stating that he employee is a “calm man” and the behaviour as displayed in the video is not like him.

Since this incident, which took place on Thursday, the video has since gone viral with over 40 000 views and over 1400 shares. It has has generated some of the following comments:

Ndlovu has not yet laid any criminal charges, however, he adds that he has been approached by various lawyers who are encouraging him to pursue the matter as they will take the matter as a pro-bono case. He has since approached the Human Rights Commission and says that he will take the matter further from there onwards. – Pulane Choane
