The 5th annual Bloem Family Tractor Festival is currently taking currently place at the Ferreira Museum in Quaggafontein, Bloemfontein.

Chairperson of the Central Free State Veteran Club, Christo Pieterse, says the festival is hosting veteran tractor and engine fanatics from across the country.

The event that is intended to serve as a living museum, will also hold a mini braai competition for kids from the ages of 6 to 10 years. The kids will make their own fire and braai a boerewors and a bun, at the end of the competition, all participants will be rewarded. In the past years, the festival was visited by close to 1500 people and Pieterse believes the number of visitors will exceed to 3000 this year.

“The festival is to exhibit a restored old engines and tractors which are not in use anymore. They will be displayed and driven around the arena here. Adding to that we have a lot of food stalls and other exhibitors. We are all here to enjoy the festivities with each other. The reason we are expecting the number of visitors to exceed is that we are also holding the National Engine Restoration Competition, and people from all over the country are here, as well as the top two finalists, for the final announcement of the winner for the challenge.”
