Ballot boxes found next to road in Free State

Ballot boxes found next to the road outside Bothaville were part of excess stock the IEC had been transporting, and had not contained any ballots.

According to Mmathabo Rasengane, spokesperson for the Independent Electoral Commission in the Free State, the commission confirmed with their officials in Nala Municipality that there was nothing untoward about the boxes that were discovered next to the road.

The boxes were part of a load of materials that were being transported via trailer, following the close of voting stations. – Earl Coetzee
