Free State police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a bus driver died in a collision on the N3 near Harrismith last night.
Police spokesperson, Thabo Litabe, says a City to City bus was travelling towards Johannesburg at around 22:40 when it drove into the rear-end of a trailer of a truck.
Netcare 911 spokesperson, Chris Botha, says reports from the scene indicate that the truck was stationary in the yellow line of the road. The bus driver was declared dead on the scene.
Botha says four people sustained serious injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals.
Nineteen other passengers escaped with minor injuries.
Litabe says the deceased’s name is not going to be released yet as his next of kin needs to be notified.
