3 people have died following a truck and car collision on the N3 near Harrismith, about 12 km south bound towards Durban. The motor car caught fire killing three passengers instantly. Drivers heading towards the accident have been cautioned to slow down as traffic is stagnant due to the accident. Police spokesperson, Captain Christopher Mophiring says they are investigating an incident of culpable homicide…
“The car caught fire and three people died instantly, burnt beyond recognition in the car. Our request now as the police and traffic is that we need both people traveling both south and north bound to be careful and patient when coming towards that traffic because there is a concession,” said Mophiring.
Netcare 911 reports that the accident happened this morning at about 07:45. The truck driver managed to jump out of the truck before it burst into flames. While an adult and two children that were trapped inside the vehicle burnt to death.
The road is still closed and motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
