Thirteen people including Ramotshere Moiloa local municipality’s mayor and two police officials are part of the people who are reported to have been injured following yesterday’s Reconciliation Day celebrations at Gopane Village, near Zeerust in the North West.
According to police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, thirteen people were injured in total, while the four were hospitalized at a heavy facility and the rest were discharged as they sustained minor injuries.
North West government spokesperson had previously said there were no reported injuries.
The said people were injured after a strong wind blew away the marquee tent during Reconciliation Day celebrations.
It is said the incident occurred during President Jacob Zuma’s speech and the event had to be cut short.
